Hottest trends for your home in 2022
As we have officially said hello to 2022, it is time to take a look at what house trends will be Instagram-worthy this year. Our DC Living Interior Designers have pulled together a list of what’s going to be hot in 2022.

Trend #1: Warm Tones

2022 will be all about the use of warmer tones such as whites, beiges, and creams in paint selections, carpets, cabinetry, and tiles. Warmer tones combined with a range of textures can help to create a homely and inviting sanctuary and one that you won’t want to leave! The benefit of having a neutral base across your interiors means that you have a relatively blank canvas to then add personality and pops of colour with your furniture and homewares.

This flatlay is a prime example of how warm tones and textures combine beautifully to create a soft and appealing palette. It is also a sneak peek of the interior selections that we have included in one of our new display homes opening in 2022!

Trend #2: Curved Mirrors

Adding a shaped mirror, such as a curve can help to take away the sharp lines and corners typically found in a bathroom and really soften the space. When paired together with a round basin, you can create a more inviting space and one that you want to retreat to. We love polished edge arched mirrors and predict they will be here to stay along with round and oval mirrors come next year. Mirror selfies might be getting a revamp in 2022 with this trend because who wouldn’t want to show off this beautiful addition to a bathroom!

Spoiler alert: Keep your eyes peeled on our DC Living projects coming in 2022 that may or may not feature this trend.

Trend #3: Coloured Tapware

Trend-4---1

Coloured tapware is a beautiful alternative from the usual chrome and a great way to accent timbers, cabinetry, and benchtops. We love the Mizu Drift Range from Reece Bathrooms which comes in a variety of finishes to suit an array of personal tastes. Brushed gold tapware can help to achieve warmth in a home, black tapware can give off a sleek and contemporary vibe and the inclusion of brushed nickel can provide a timeless and sophisticated look.

Coloured tapware isn’t a new trend but we think that brushed nickel tapware is going to be the winner in 2022.

Trend #4: VJ Panelling

Trend-2--1

The use of VJ panelling throughout the interior of your home is another trend we have been using in 2021 and expect to be in hot demand again in 2022. We love using Easycraft EasyVJ in our homes because it is a great way to add texture and truly transform a space in your home, all while paying tribute to the traditional Queenslander style of home.

The great thing about VJ panelling is you can use it anywhere (and everywhere) - from wet areas in your bathroom to feature walls in your living or bedroom, or on your ceilings. Hume Doors & Timbers have a beautiful VJ profile door in their internal range so that you can continue this theme throughout your home.

Trend #5: Linear Cladding

Trend-1---1

Utilising cladding in a linear format on the exterior of your home is a great way to create a timeless façade. We love the range from James Hardie and the variety of cladding options to help achieve the look you love. Laid either horizontally or vertically, linear cladding can be bought to life through your selection of Dulux paint.

A great example of the use of linear cladding is the James Hardie Scyon Axon 133mm cladding on our Brooklyn façade, pictured above. The horizontal lay of the cladding, contrasting with the angles of the rooftop, makes this façade an absolute statement.
